Laventure is an independent watch brand founded by Clement Gaud in 2017, using Swiss-made cases and movements (ETA 2842-2) featuring beautiful ‘sandwich’ – construction dials.

Clement grew up surrounded by the world of antiques dealers, and developed an eye for aesthetics from a young age. He graduated from University with a mechanical engineering degree, followed by a Master’s in Design at one of the top design schools in Paris. He spent 5 years designing watches for big brands in Switzerland, developing his passion for timepieces before launching Laventure in 2017 in the spirit of swashbuckling adventure, taking us back to those oh-so-cool Camel Trophy ads from the 80’s…

I’ve known Clement since well before his Laventure adventure, and apart from being a very likeable guy, he has of course a well-honed expert’s eye for excellent design. With each Laventure model he has managed to combine some great design cues from iconic watches past and present and the result is an incredibly complete product with an uncommon look, a solid build and outstanding accessibility.

One small limited edition series (50 pieces per model) is created per year, each piece entirely manufactured in La Chaux de Fonds, Canton of Neuchatel, Switzerland. The current iteration is the ‘Sous-Marine’ (Submarine) in Stainless Steel, available with brushed ‘smoked’ dials in blue, green or gloss black with a lacquer finish and cut-out indexes showing off a lovely cream vintage-inspired superluminova second layer for excellent readability day and night.

Laventure timepieces are delivered in a superb watch box in the form of an antique hardcover book which remind one of the Jules Verne adventurer tomes of old ! Spare straps and strap-changing tool are included.

An extremely rare watch on our shores, unknown to all but the initiated watch aficionado, which equates to very little risk of ever seeing one in the wild apart from yours !

Geneva Blue has stocked and sold very limited numbers of the steel Sous-Marine models, and at the moment we have no more Laventures in stock. We are now waiting to see if new models will be available, or if they will only be available directly from Laventure.

A new GMT model (available in green dial and cream dial versions) was released at end June 2020 and sold out within 24 hours, showing the trajectory of this brand…
